Last great Final Fantasy (2009-06-10)
For those that are looking to rekindle that feeling you get from old school playstation 1 rpg's, you need to add this one to your collection. This game was always looked over due to the commercial success of final fantasy 7 & 8, but I say please give this game a try.

One of the best games ever made? I think so. (2009-06-06)
Final Fantasy IX I recently bought this from Amazon, LLC, not from any third party. I got it in THREE days. and I ordered ground shipping. I got it the 5th and it was estimated to get here on the 10th. I think that THAT is good customer service.

I've played this game many, many, many times before. I bought it when they first released it for 19.99,again in 2002 for 24.99 and again this year for 14.99. I couldn't be more pleased with that. It's absurd for Final Fantasy 7 to cost a hundred or more dollars, it's not even the best one. But people who buy these games, such as my self, generally buy them for their memories not always for their stories, so it's pretty much what it's worth to you.

The game play is GREAT, it's returned to a more original Final Fantasy setting, and it even tells you on the back,'The Crystal Comes Back'. It brings back Garland as a Dark Ruler, Cid for the first time as a King... well Regent*ribbit*. Also, the airship design is Beautiful! The invincible looks like the Lunar Whale from Final Fantasy IV. Also, the creators introduced Active Time Events (ATE) which you can check at any moogle, and sometimes, they just pop up and you HAVE to do em.

The Battles are pretty much the same as always, You have Zidane who is a thief, Garnet(Dagger) as the Summoner, ViVi as a black mage, and Steiner as a Knight. You obtain a few more characters later on in the game but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't played. You have pretty much the same summons/espers/contracts as before with a few more additions that haven't appeared as often, like Atomos which is a giant puffer fish thing that sucks up and entire city!

The story is set on the Mist continent for most of the game. You're Zidane, one of the 'actors' of Tantalus in the queens play. His goal is to kidnap Princess Garnet, why? you don't know yet. Upon entering the castle you see a woman in a hood, you can either make a move on her or let her go, it doesn't really matter, BUT it's Garnet. After a long escape scene you end up getting her to go along with you WILLINGLY. And you have to fight Steiner. And that's the gist of the beginning hook!

Money Not Wasted (2009-06-03)
This game is totally awesome, a classic as far as Final Fantasies go. I still think that besides FF7, this is the best one you can buy. Take it from a girl gamer.

biased review (2009-06-02)
being a final fantasy fanatic, what else is there to say. the game lived up to expectations, the mini card game is a pretty interesting twist, i must admit i love it though. gameplay is great as usual as with all other ff's even though i must admit there was a lil something missing (can't place my finger on it though). but all in all, a must have for final fantasy lovers.

New Features and Some Nostalgia Too (2009-05-28)
This game continues a lot of Final Fantasy traditions: It tweaks the battle, money, item, and command systems, introduces new characters, and has a deep plot to it too; however, this game is also meant to be a throwback to some of the old Final Fantasies by reintroducing some old elements too. (such as "fixed" jobs for each character) It's the first Final Fantasy to do this, and it definitely succeeds in both! Final Fantasy fans will definitely enjoy this one because of the latter features... and the return of some old faces. Newbies will still enjoy this game though...even if they don't get all the references. LOL
