Citizen Kane (70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition) Overview

Orson Welles’ timeless masterwork is more than a groundbreaking film. Presented here in a magnificent 70th anniversary digital transfer with revitalized digital audio from the highest quality surviving elements, it is also grand entertainment, sharply acted and superbly directed with inspired visual flair. Depicting the controversial life of an influential publishing tycoon, this Best Original Screenplay Academy Award Winner (1941) is rooted in themes of power, corruption, vanity—the American Dream lost in the mystery of a dying man’s last word: “Rosebud.”

Citizen Kane (70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition) Specifications

Arguably the greatest of American films, Orson Welles's 1941 masterpiece, made when he was only 26, still unfurls like a dream and carries the viewer along the mysterious currents of time and memory to reach a mature (if ambiguous) conclusion: people are the sum of their contradictions, and can't be known easily. Welles plays newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane, taken from his mother as a boy and made the ward of a rich industrialist. The result is that every well-meaning or tyrannical or self-destructive move he makes for the rest of his life appears in some way to be a reaction to that deeply wounding event. Written by Welles and Herman J. Mankiewicz, and photographed by Gregg Toland, the film is the sum of Welles's awesome ambitions as an artist in Hollywood. He pushes the limits of then-available technology to create a true magic show, a visual and aural feast that almost seems to be rising up from a viewer's subconsciousness. As Kane, Welles even ushers in the influence of Bertolt Brecht on film acting. This is truly a one-of-a-kind work, and in many ways is still the most modern of modern films from the 20th century. --Tom Keogh

Pt-109 Overview

Studio: Warner Bros. Digital Dist Release Date: 06/13/2011

Pt-109 Specifications

John F. Kennedy lived long enough to see this Hollywood account of his Navy career and his heroism following a ruthless attack by a Japanese ship on his small patrol craft. Cliff Robertson is an amiable choice to play Kennedy, though one won't find a lot of the late president's mannerisms in his performance. The key battle sequence, which finds Kennedy and his crew bloodied and battered while trying to stay alive in shark-infested waters, makes a big impression on young viewers. --Tom Keogh

Dennis The Menace: Season Two Overview

Dennis Mitchell (Jay North), the havoc-wreaking boy with a heart of gold, is back for a whole new season of well-meaning destruction and chaos. When he isn’t torturously irritating crotchety Mr. Wilson (Joseph Kearns), Dennis tries to do good by his loving parents, Henry (Herbert Anderson) and Alice (Gloria Henry). Accompanying Dennis through his misadventures are his right-hand boy, Tommy (Billy Booth), and his nemesis-in-a-dress, Margaret (Jeannie Russell). Season Two highlights include Dennis running away from home, raising a yard-destroying gopher, stirring up mischief with a Ouija board, entering a soapbox derby and going camping with Henry and Mr. Wilson.

Based on the weekly comic strip by Hank Ketcham, this staple of classic television ran on CBS from 1959 1963. Here for the first time on DVD are all 38 uncut episodes from the complete second season!

Dennis The Menace: Season Two Specifications

The first season of Dennis the Menace, a black-and-white sitcom based on the comic strip by Hank Ketcham that ran on CBS from 1959 to 1960, featured an energetic, curious young boy who was simply a magnet for mischief. Dennis (Jay North) is essentially a good boy who always wants to be right in the middle of whatever's going on in his suburban neighborhood and has an insatiable desire to "help" his friends and neighbors. His loving, but exasperated parents (Gloria Henry and Herbert Anderson) never seem quite able to anticipate what kind of trouble Dennis might get into next, but one can bet that it will probably have something to do with their grouchy neighbor Mr. Wilson (Joseph Kearns). Whether it's planting flowers, pouring a concrete walk, camping out in the backyard, finding a buyer for a neighbor's house, or talking on the neighborhood (telephone) party line, Dennis always seems to inadvertently make a mess of things. In some ways, this sitcom is surprisingly timeless in its portrayal of a young boy and his abundant energy and overwhelming sense of curiosity, but details like the prevalence of cap guns and shooting games in Dennis's play, firecrackers tossed casually into the garbage and incinerator, and the stereotypical portrayal of a "woman's role" are startling reminders of how much has changed since the late 1950s and early 1960s. Bonus features include a 2010 interview with Henry and Jeannie Russell (Margaret) about everything from casting to the weekly shooting schedule and various troubles on the set; a 2007 audio-only radio interview with Henry and Russell; the 1960 Donna Reed Show episode "Donna Decorates," which guest-starred Dennis the Menace; and the original show promo, credits, and commercials. --Tami Horiuchi

Mrs Miracle Overview

Overwhelmed widower seth webster is searching for a housekeeper to help him with his rambunctious six year old twin sons. Mrs meerkle - whom the boys call mrs miracle - mysteriously appears & quickly becomes an irreplacable nanny chef friend & matchmaker. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 11/16/2010 Starring: James Van Der Beek Erin Karpluks Run time: 92 minutes

Mrs Miracle Specifications

Seth Webster (James Van Der Beek) is a widowed father trying to raise a pair of unruly boys. When the twins drive off yet another nanny, he hires a kindly and angelic woman named Mrs. Merkle (Doris Roberts) to take care of their household. Before long, the twins are behaving less like feral beasts and more like well-behaved little gentlemen. And though he's still mourning the loss of his wife, Seth also shows a glimmer of hope. A romantic and upbeat film, Mrs. Miracle doesn't offer any amazing revelations or plot twists. Viewers often know what will happen before the characters do. But it is a satisfying and warm made-for-TV movie. And while it would certainly have been interesting, no, the romance isn't between Seth and Mrs. Merkle. Rather, Mrs. Merkle helps facilitate a burgeoning relationship between Seth and Reba Maxwell (Erin Karpluk), a comely woman who has been deeply hurt by love in the past as well. Van Der Beek plays his part well, with his patented subdued mannerisms. While the actor doesn't look much different than he did when he played the titular character in Dawson's Creek, he easily plays the dad role with the kind of believability that parents will recognize and relate to. --Jae-Ha Kim

Dumb and Dumber (Unrated) Specifications

Delivering exactly what its title promises, this celebration of stupidity was Jim Carrey's 1994 follow-up to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask. The film pairs the rubber- faced wacky man with Jeff Daniels as the not-so-dynamic duo of Lloyd and Harry, dunderheads who come into the possession of a briefcase containing ransom money that is intended for Mob-connected kidnappers. Lauren Holly costars as the woman who lost the briefcase, and with whom Carrey falls in love (both in real life and as his moronic on-screen character). As Lloyd and Harry make a mad dash to return the briefcase (never aware of its contents), the bumbling buddies attract Mobsters, cops, and trouble galore. This lowbrow laugh-a-thon scores some solid hits for hilarity, but with gags involving ill-fated parakeets, buxom bimbos, and an overdose of laxatives, be prepared to put your brain--and good taste--on hold. --Jeff Shannon
