Review Serendipity

Serendipity Best Review

This is a great feel good movie; a sweet and entertaining fairytale with fantastic leads.

The destiny/fate theme is thin and cliche, but the work put into this film by everyone involved (The writers, Peter Chelsom, the actors, all other movie crew, etc.) elevates its quality.

The script was witty and nicely done; even the jokes/humor in this movie had an intellectual air about it. It was also great to find out that John Cusack (who I adore) also added a lot into the script - I wonder if he included that part about Cassiopeia from "The Sure Thing", the book "Love in the Time of Cholera" which also appeared in High Fidelity?

There were formulaic RomCom scenes as well, but there's no need to overanalyze it. I really admire the fact that they brought a different spin to the boy meets girl and the chase story.

On a personal note; I could relate to both main characters (Sara and Jonathan) because I did fall in love with someone almost the same way before (but he was involved with someone else) - and I can't forget him or erase him out of my memory...but of course in the real world I doubt that we'll ever get together.

Now on to the characters:

Kate Beckinsale as Sara Thomas and John Cusack as Jonathan Trager were terrific! I LOVED their chemistry, but wish that they had more screentime together, although I understand that careful balance had to be placed by Peter Chelsom because a majority of this film was focused on the "chase" to keep things exciting. There were some things that I noted about Cusack (probably because I'm a fan of his movies); his outfits and the fact that he was wearing fingerless gloves and a faded grey henley undershirt most of the time in the movie---that reminded me of "Say Anything". Hopefully both actors will be able to do a movie together again in the future.

Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon were fantastic as their respective best buds, and both bring the right balance of humor into the mix. I like it when Piven is in a movie with Cusack. Eugene Levy was funny as always; he was a scene stealer for sure. I also enjoyed the performances of John Corbitt and Bridgett Moynahan as well.

John Corbitt had that hilarious Yanni/Sting music going on, with a crazy music video to match. In regards to Moynahan's character; I know that some of the audience were wondering what was wrong with her, why did Jonathan Trager dump a perfect girl for Sara who he really doesn't know. There was that dinner scene right after the fastforward time lapse where Halley (Moynahan's character)whispers to Jonathan about Dean (Piven) and his wife. They both mention something about how happy the couple were and that they have no fights, then Jonathan mentions that it must be a b*tch on their sex life...fast forward to the scene outside the Waldorf Astoria, Halle tells Jonathan that she'll get undressed hop into bed and act like they just got over a fight - I think this was an indication that Halley and Jonathan were constatly having fights and things were not as perfect as it seems between the two of them. Anyways I guess that in the end (and even in real life) being with or knowing someone for a long time isn't going to save you from having a relationship go bad. I have friends who were living together with their partner for many years, only to break up not long after they get engaged...then they end up marrying someone else within a year or so - but end up with a happy marriage.

I'm a bit shocked by some of the negative reviews...to each his/her own I guess. I feel that this movie is so underrated and although it's not a perfect film, it's definitely not as terrible as some people make it out to be.

Serendipity Overview

Irresistible stars John Cusack (AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS, HIGH FIDELITY) and Kate Beckinsale (PEARL HARBOR, BROKEDOWN PALACE) are drawn together and take a chance on love in this critically acclaimed romantic comedy! In the course of one magical evening, Jonathan (Cusack) and Sara (Beckinsale) meet unexpectedly ... then part without expectation when she decides they must let fate determine if they are meant to be together. Years later, they are both engaged to others but cannot give up the dream that -- despite time, distance, and the obstacles that conspire to keep them apart -- they will one day meet again. Also starring Jeremy Piven (THE FAMILY MAN, VERY BAD THINGS) and Molly Shannon (SUPERSTAR, NEVER BEEN KISSED) in a stellar supporting cast -- you're destined to agree with audiences everywhere who fell for the surprising charms of this delightful big-screen romance!

Serendipity Specifications

The irresistible casting of John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale highlights this predictable romantic comedy, which combines the romantic yearning of An Affair to Remember and the New York charm of You've Got Mail. It all begins "a few years ago," when New Yorker Jonathan (Cusack) meets Brit beauty Sara (Beckinsale). They share a few perfect hours together before parting ways, leaving future encounters to her quirky obsession with fate. "A few years later," they're about to marry their respective fiancés (reluctantly, of course), and urgently hoping for destiny to bring them back together. Under the casual direction of Peter Chelsom (barely recovering from Town & Country), this starry-eyed romance offers no surprises, but it has a comforting familiarity, made warmer by the easy chemistry of the leads, with obligatory best-friend support by Molly Shannon and long-time Cusack pal Jeremy Piven. It's hokey, but die-hard romantics are sure to be forgiving. --Jeff Shannon

Fate - E. K. Moseley - AZ USA
"Serendipity"; was a very good film with very little left out. The acting was very well done and the story-line is John Cusacks best type. (In my opinion he is good in anything.) Ms Beckinsale and Mr Cusack play of each other well. I love the supporting cast too. This is a feel good film that teaches waiting for the right person is a good thing.

a typical love story - B. E Jackson - Pennsylvania
Alright, maybe not *completely* typical, but everything you'd expect from a love story can be found in Serendipity.

A man and woman strongly believe they are destined to be together, but because of a completely silly elevator incident (you'll understand what I mean when you see it) they never actually meet up, and eventually go their separate ways. This is honestly a pretty poor piece of writing and totally unbelievable, but whatever.

Years later, they realize they want to be together and can't stop thinking about each other... but the thing is, BOTH the man and woman are already in relationships with someone else, and to make things even more complicated, they completely lost touch with each other and can't find each other.

Through some miraculous and hard to believe twist of fate, weird things eventually happen to both of them (such as clues that were left from when the two of them were together for that short time before the *ahem* elevator incident).

These "weird things" (in other words, spoilers) encourage the two of them to eventually find each other, but it seems wherever the man searches and believes he's about to find the woman of his dreams, he *just* misses her (and vice versa). This is basically the storyline for most of the film.

Well, not much I can say except if you like love stories, this is definitely a movie for you.

Video Conferencing - The Pros and Cons of Video Conferencing

Many businesses conduct video conferencing during meetings. Video conferencing allows you to call anyone in the world and not only speak to them, but also see them on the projector or computer screen. Video conferencing is meant for larger audience such as a conference or meeting, rather than serving the needs of an individual.

As technology becomes more advanced, businesses have made video conferencing an important activity during meetings. However, video conferencing has its pros and cons.

Video conferencing advantages:

1. Able to reach anyone in the world and almost immediately. With video conferencing, there is no need for anyone to travel long distance for conferences and meetings. There will be no geographical and time boundary.

2. Works well for a large audience. During video conferencing, PowerPoint slides and visual display can be projected on a large screen for everyone present in a room. This makes it suitable for conducting conferences and meetings with larger crowd.

3. Allow people at different locations to interact with one another effectively and easily. A phone call only allows 2 people to interact with one another. However, with video conferencing, it allows people from different locations to interact with one another effectively. 3 people in Singapore can interact with 5 people in China and another 3 people in the States easily, with everyone able to hear and see perfectly.

Video conferencing disadvantages:

1. Expensive. The price of a good video conferencing system may be a major concern for most people. So if you do not need advanced features, there are cheap options for you to choose from. However, if you know how to make use of those advanced features, you may find that the money you save flying employees and clients around the country will more than makes up the cost of the video conferencing system. Before you buy any system, make sure that you know what your needs are so that you can get the right one for your company.

2. Lost of human touch. Eye contact is very important during a communication. However with video conferencing, eye contact is not easily delivered through the camera.

Now that you have a list of pros and cons of video conferencing, it is now up to you to decide whether video conferencing is necessary for your business. Before you buy any system, make sure that you conduct a thorough research first so as to choose the best system for your company.

Review Invincible

Invincible Best Review

Underdog Rocky overcomes tremendous odds to become a champion prizefighter. Underdog Rudy fights through the odds to become a member of the Fighting Irish. And in Invincible, Vince Papale, a 30 year old bartender who has never played collegiate football, makes the Philadelphia Eagles football team.

And unlike Rocky Balboa, Rudy Ruettiger and Vince Papale are real people!

Invincible obviously is a romanticized version of Papale's life (played by (Mark Wahlberg). In realty, Papale played for the World Football League before it folded, so had professional football experience. But the movie uses the tension of Papale's personal life, the irritation of his teammates, the pressure on the coaching staff, and the rigors of the practice field to develop the story.

And it is an entertaining story!

Invincible Overview

INVINCIBLE is the inspiring true story of Vince Papale, an ordinary guy who, against extraordinary odds, gets a one-in-a-gazillion shot at living every sports fan’s wildest fantasy. Like the city he lives in and his beloved hometown NFL team, the down-an-out Vince (Mark Wahlberg, THE ITALIAN JOB) has seen better days. But then the Philadelphia Eagles’ new coach Dick Vermeil (Greg Kinnear, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE) calls an unprecedented open tryout, and the 30-year-old bartender who never played college ball makes the cut. Now Vince needs every bit of his gritty, never-say-die attitude and enormous heart to survive in the high-stakes world of professional football. Heartfelt and triumphant, and filled with body-slamming NFL football action, INVINCIBLE will have you on your feet cheering for the scrappy underdog who helped his team rediscover its winning spirits, and in the process rallied a city when it needed it most.

Invincible Specifications

Walt Disney Pictures scored a surprise box-office hit with Invincible, and the movie deserved its good reviews as a fine example of how above-average writing, direction, and casting can turn formulaic material into something special. And make no mistake, this is a formulaic movie, with its real-life story embellished with Rocky-like enthusiasm, and lovingly crafted with the same quality of working-class humanism that made The Rookie a similarly popular Disney hit. This time, the inspirational true story is that of Vince Papale, a down-on-his-luck substitute teacher in Philadelphia (played by Mark Wahlberg in a nicely understated performance) who was 30 years old, out of work, abandoned by his wife, and biding time as a bartender when he answered an open call for tryouts on the Philadelphia Eagles NFL football team in 1976. Going with his gut instinct, new coach Dick Vermeil (Greg Kinnear) rewards Papale's diligent efforts with a place on the team, and Invincible combines gridiron guts, low-key romance (as Papale meets his future wife-to-be, played by Elizabeth Banks) and blue-collar friendship in an underdog story that moves, with casual charm and abundant appeal, toward a rousing feel-good finish. Making good use of digital visual effects to recreate Philly's now-demolished Veterans Stadium, director Erickson Core (also serving as his own cinematographer) tackles this heartwarming assignment with intelligence and flair, spinning gold from what could have been just another routine sports movie. --Jeff Shannon

democratic movie - R. Bagula - Lakeside, Ca United States
Only a true masochist or someone with a low pain threshold
would take up the NFL at 30?
That he was successful is simply amazing.
My own point of view is he should have moved to Seattle
and got a job teaching there.
This is a good biographical football movie.
I really think that we should have a movie about someone like Benoit Mandelbrot
before a football player:
the result tends to give people a false world picture?

Invincible - Arnita D. Brown - USA
When the coach of Vince Papale's beloved hometown football team hosted an unprecedented open tryout, the public consensus was that it was a waste of time no one good enough to play professional football was going to be found this way. Certainly no one like Papale a down on his luck, 30 year old, substitute teacher and part-time bartender who never even played college football. But against these odds, Papale made the team and soon found himself living every fan's fantasy moving from his cheap seats in the upper deck to standing on the field as a professional football player. This movie is heartfelt and gratifying, exciting movie that, like its hero, has heart. Wahlberg plays his role very effectively in this movie. Do yourself and your family a favor, watch this movie.

Invincible - LEndow - San Diego, CA
The storyline was uplifting and the scenes took you back to those troubled times. Remembering that we got through difficult times before reminds us that we'll get through them again. This movie is a gem. Mark Walberg, as Vince Papale, reminds us that integrity, perseverance, and earnestness are qualities that strengthen us. We help ourselves when we support our family and friends (and community).

DVD to DVD in Just Seconds

The importance of saving a backup database for all your documents must be understood by those who wish to play it safe. Data, audio, images and all other compatible documents can be recorded in the digital form of a CD or for more spatial storage capacity, a good old DVD.

Sometimes, even saving your entire precious document to a single digital copy is not the most secure form of saving the data entirely. It is advisable that you make several copies of the backup data.

There are many approaches to one's idea on how to burn a DVD to a DVD. It is usually done through the use of third party software to take care of the technical parts of the whole process.

There are numerous selections of third party software which is available in the market and most of them are user-friendly when you want to learn how to burn DVD to a DVD. Look for those which have online tutorial instructions and the best quality in pictorial effects. High resolution is a must in maintaining the standard of transfer.

First, you have to make certain on whether or not the disk is a single or a double layered item. A single layered disk has its functions set on only one side of the item. Usually a single layered item is very effective in storing minimal data and it is easy to be transferred along to another writable disk.

The dual-layered disk however has a trickier transferring system. Generally a dual-layered disk is best for movie-storage as it fits more bytes. The best way to transfer the data is by using third party software, coupled with a helpful online tutorial. There are a few steps on how to initiate the transfer effectively.

After successfully installing the creator or burner software, proceed with the procedure by selecting "IMPORT". Then choose the drive at which the files that you would like to transfer is located at. Then select "EXPORT" to the location to which you would like to transfer the information to. It is advisable that you transfer the desired files to your own hardware first. Then, go to the "OUPUT SETTINGS", Choose the target size of the output data.

You should opt to shrink the size of transferrable data if you believe that the second disk is not apt to storing a large capacity of files. After that, check the default settings for the language option. If you do not want the additional language options, feel free to uncheck the boxes.
Finally, press start and watch the process. The speed of the transfer depends entirely on the performance of your own computer processor.

Dennis enjoys writing on wide range of topics such as burn a dvd to a dvd and burn a DVD. You may visit for more details.

Jurassic Park Adventure Pack (Jurassic Park/ The Lost World: Jurassic Park/ Jurassic Park III) Best Review

I bought this recently because I had fond memories for the first film, and ok memories for the second and third films. Since they don't seem to sell the first movie separately any more, this is the thing to buy unless you want to go to a used movie store. The first movie is amazing and stands the test of time, and the other two remain entertaining if nothing else.

Jurassic Park Adventure Pack (Jurassic Park/ The Lost World: Jurassic Park/ Jurassic Park III) Specifications

Jurassic Park
Steven Spielberg's 1993 mega-hit rivals Jaws as the most intense and frightening film he'd ever made prior to Schindler's List, but it was also among his weakest stories. Based on Michael Crichton's novel about an island amusement park populated by cloned dinosaurs, the film works best as a thrill ride with none of the interesting human dynamics of Spielberg's Jaws. That lapse proves unfortunate, but there's no shortage of raw terror as a rampaging T-rex and nasty raptors try to make fast food out of the cast. The effects are still astonishing (despite the fact that the computer-generated technology has since been improved upon) and at times primeval, such as the sight of a herd of whatever-they-are scampering through a valley. --Tom Keogh

The Lost World - Jurassic Park
In the low tradition of knockoff horror flicks best seen (or not seen) on a drive-in movie screen, Steven Spielberg's sequel to Jurassic Park is a poorly conceived, ill-organized film that lacks story and logic. Screenwriter David Koepp strings along a number of loose ideas while Jeff Goldblum returns as Ian Malcolm, the quirky chaos theoretician who now reluctantly agrees to go to another island where cloned dinosaurs are roaming freely. Along with his girlfriend (Julianne Moore) and daughter, Malcolm has to deal with hunters, environmentalists, and corporate swine who stupidly bring back a big dino to Southern California, where it runs amok, of course. Spielberg doesn't seem to care that the pieces of this project don't add up to a real movie, so he hams it up with big, scary moments (with none of the artfulness of those in Jurassic Park) and smart-aleck visual gags (a yapping dog in a suburb mysteriously disappears when a hungry T-rex stomps by). A complete bust.--Tom Keogh

Jurassic Park III
Surpassing expectations to qualify as an above-average sequel, Jurassic Park III is nothing more or less than a satisfying popcorn adventure. A little cheesier than the first two Jurassic blockbusters, it's a big B movie with big B-list stars (including Laura Dern, briefly reprising her Jurassic Park role), and eight years of advancing computer-generated-image technology give it a sharp edge over its predecessors. While adopting the jungle spirit of King Kong, the movie refines Michael Crichton's original premise, and its dinosaurs are even more realistic, their behavior more detailed, and their variety--including flying pteranodons and a new villain, the spinosaurus--more dazzling and threatening than ever. These advancements justify the sequel, and its contrived plot is just clever enough to span 90 minutes without wearing out its welcome.

Posing as wealthy tourists, an adventurous couple (William H. Macy, Téa Leoni) convince paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and his protégé (Allesandro Nivola) to act as tour guides on a flyover trip to Isla Sorna, the ill-fated "Site B" where all hell broke loose in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. In truth, they're on a search-and-rescue mission to find their missing son (Trevor Morgan), and their plane crash is just the first of several enjoyably suspenseful sequences. Director Joe Johnston (October Sky) embraces the formulaic plot as a series of atmospheric set pieces, placing new and familiar dinosaurs in misty rainforests, fiery lakes, and mysterious valleys, turning JP3 into a thrill ride with impressive highlights (including a T. rex versus spinosaurus smack-down), adequate doses of wry humor (from the cowriters of Election), and an upbeat ending that's corny but appropriate, proving that the symptoms of sequelitis needn't be fatal. --Jeff Shannon

Information About Video Conferencing - What You Need To Know

Video conferencing is the technique of meeting in a group over a network employing video and audio transmission technology and equipment. Armed with information about video conferencing businessmen, technologists, scientists and government heads started to explore ways to bring the world closer together and enable meetings of many people located in different parts of the globe. Video conferencing is the process of being able to see and interact with a group of people located at any point of the world at the same time.

Increased information about video conferencing has enabled even small businesses and organizations to communicate virtually face to face and not being in the same room at the same time. Businesses find this the most convenient way to interact with partners across the globe. Medical service providers such as surgeons have been known to use their information about video conferencing to provide invaluable advise to doctors treating patients half way across the globe. Doctors can view the patients and advise their colleagues about the treatment that must be administered to the patient. Surgeons have been known to conduct operations in distant countries through video conferencing; they observe the operation being conducted by a surgeon and advise him through the conferencing. This would not have been possible in the early 1990's as the video quality was very low and the connectivity of the video conferencing was not too good either.

Today the general man-in-the-street can use video conferencing software like any professional. Desktop video conferencing has brought the world closer and bridged the divide of the oceans for many a family. Information about video conferencing has given expansion opportunities for education and communication like no one ever expected. Someone somewhere has availed of the benefits that information about video conferencing has provided to the world. This is a technology that has achieved a lot in a few years and still has a very long way to go. Video conferencing enables scientists on the earth to communicate with astronauts in space, Generals to observe the activities on the frontlines, Doctors to monitor the progress of patients from distant lands, scientists to take part in crucial experiments from different countries at the same time and the old grand parents to have a look at the newborn grandchild just a few minutes after birth.

The information about video conferencing that you need is available all over the Internet. You need to know what video conferencing is, what you can use it for, what is the technology available to you and what is the equipment you need to set up video conferencing. In the past there was just the ISDN line linking the Internet across the world. Then there was the limited video compressing technology that could enable video transmission across the Internet. Businesses and organizations were unable to put video conferencing to its greatest use as they were bound to the limited technology at the time. The more their information about video conferencing technology advanced the better equipped they became to put it to wider use.

Review Bones: The Complete Second Season

Bones: The Complete Second Season Best Review

This was a great addition to my collection of Bones dvds. I already have season one and season four. I think they really came into their own in their second season and that the writing, the acting, and whatever happens behind the scenes in production all seemed to work. I also think the packaging and formatting of the dvds themselves looked great and compared to season four (body bag edition) much more clearly presented. Two things bothered me about the entire story line that I saw happening in Season Three and Four: Zack leaving didn't work for me even though I could see the handwriting on the wall in the way his character was developing. I don't buy him as a murderer so I am glad his appearances later reveal he didn't actually do the deed. However, how can someone that smart (logically)justify that kind of behavior. He even had a huge family who seemed to love and support him besides the people at the Jeffersonian. The message the writer sometimes gives about extremely smart people or squints is that they are flawed in some way--handicapped more than the "average joe". If fact, the Temperance character who had been abandoned by parents who supposedly rebelled against authority seems a more likely suspect for falling under the influence of a Gormogon figure. Zack character seems too sensitive and protected by everyone around him. All of it does provide the dramatic tension needed to keep the stories rolling, however. So overall they all get five stars. Hart Hanson along with the acting chops of the main characters, the collaborative feel of all the actors, all seem to go together to make for a very successful show.

Bones: The Complete Second Season Specifications

Beginning with the death of a senator and ending with a marriage, the second season of Bones builds on the momentum created during the Fox drama's debut year. Bones' sophomore season (which includes all 21 episodes that originally aired during 2006-2007) centers on the collaborations between FBI special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), whom Booth has nicknamed "Bones." While Booth doesn't completely believe in Bones' method, he can't argue with her success rate at solving crimes. As for Bones, she is meticulous at what she does and is a borderline genius, but she has issues. Seemingly oblivious to her own good looks, she is all but socially inept. Booth may be blunt, but he's comfortable dealing with the public. Bones, on the other hand, would rather be sequestered away with the dead, trying to figure out what happened before their uncertain deaths. Of course, while viewers can see that Bones and Booth would be a perfect couple, the characters aren't quite there yet. Their friendship becomes a little more complicated this season when it turns out that Bones' new demanding boss, Dr. Camille Saroyan (Tamara Taylor), is a former girlfriend of Booth's. And the two women aren't getting along.

Still, everyone is able to work together to solve a series of crimes, such as identifying the remains of an all but unidentifiable teenage boy and dealing with a serial killer who is emulating the crimes depicted in Bones' latest mystery novel. (Yes, she's not only a brilliant scientist but also an ace author.) Like many television dramas where forensic evidence is a driving force in the plots, Bones offers up the gross-out autopsies. But it also serves up a lot of humanity in the way the characters interact with one another. It is giving nothing away to reveal that Bones and Booth are not the couple getting married in the season finale. But the episode does reveal that beneath their tough exteriors, marriage and all that it implies is something they wouldn't mind... perhaps even with each other. --Jae-Ha Kim

How hard can it be... - Mina Hart - USA
Although I do enjoy this show, and I would like to watch the DVDs, I just don't. Why not you may ask....

Because there is no 'play all' feature, and this is very annoying to me. Is it that difficult to do? Or is it too expensive to add this when creating the DVDs? Sorry, but when I watch something I don't like rooting through the menu every 40-45 minutes. Had I known it didn't have this feature I never would have bought it, and I won't be buying any future sets.

We love Bones - J. Clayton - Washington, DC
We've been with Bones from the beginning and enjoy the bizarre characters and events, mostly because the dialog and acting excel.

Bones - Judy K. Baughman -
I just love Bones and all the fun she has in helping to solve murders.

Review Battlestar Galactica (2004): Seasons 2.0 & 2.5

Battlestar Galactica (2004): Seasons 2.0 & 2.5 Best Review

Having grown up on the original 1970's Battle star Galactica I was pleasantly surprised to find out that their was a TV remake. Although I approached with much skepticism, but after just the first episode I was hooked and I can tell you, this is the first TV series that I watch with Zeal, enthusiasm and utter respect. Forget Lost, Forget 24, Forget everything else you have seen, if you want to understand humans, humanity, love , sacrifice, perseverance, martyrdom, human flaws and love of God, PLS watch BSG!! It is simply a masterpiece! It has no Aliens, or weird funny creatures. just pure unadulterated adult story telling, An Allegory I might add. Watching the episodes makes you think, reflect and ponder. This is good TV, this is good story telling. This is what a series should do. So pls go out to your nearest Video store and rent Season one, then two, then three and finally four and open yourself into another world, a world never before seen and maybe never again repeated and a truly unforgettable experience!....So say we all!!

Continues the Story - rudy924 - New York, NY
I got into the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica after watching a few episodes of the spin off series Caprica, this spring so i was spared the long waits between seasons that fans who watched the series on tv experienced. i was glad to find this set with bundles both halves of season 2 so that i could watch the season uninterrupted. it was a great value!

A thinly veiled allegory which will make you think. - K. Gross - USA
The re-imagining of BSG was very creative and definitely made me think about things.

I have enjoyed the series and can forgive some of the continuity problems. However I should have stopped viewing after season 3.

Visually amazing, the story is at times disturbing and at other times is a long drawn out soap opera. The story is re-watchable, and the extra content is worth watching.

The sound is good and the picture is crisp. The pacing is at times hectic, and the story advances either really quickly, or not at all.

Even by the end of the series, not all of the plot points are addressed, but I believe the right decision was made to end it where they did.

Arrived right when promised and in excellent condition. Just like I bought it in the store only it cost less.

Review Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage [2 DVD]

Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage [2 DVD] Best Review

Okay, so, there isn't a Rush fan in the world who could seriously be considered a fan that's not going to automatically get this. With that in mind, this isn't a review written to try to sell the DVD, because it's going to do that all on its own to any true Rush fan (thank goodness for something new that's not yet another "best of" compilation).

As a younger generation Rush fan (I'm 28 -- or in Rush terms, I was born the year Signals was released), this DVD really helped me to relate to some of the older material that just never clicked with me (mainly the first 2 albums, though I always dug the singles). Having so much of the band's material placed within a historical context (not just a chronological one) is just one of the MANY treasures this DVD has provided me. This isn't just a documentary that educates you and gathers its information from people who know the subject(s) of the documentary; the band is directly involved in interviews, voice-overs, candid moments, and more. There's SO much more John Rutsy information than I would have ever guessed. I had no idea how much they really played with him and never have I been so aware of Neil being "the new guy." And speaking of Neil, this is absolutely the best way for a fan to get to know him. Even if you've read all of his books, watched his instructional material, watched all the official live DVD's, interviews, etc., it's great to get the most honest and sincere impression of Neil around -- and what better than getting it straight from him?

This is first-class, first-hand information contained on this DVD. You would be hard-pressed to make a better documentary than this. The only disappointment is how fast that 1:40 goes by! Ah, but when it does, there's a bonus DVD awaiting you and it contains the absolute funniest and most candid stuff. It's no secret that Alex is said to be the goofy guy in the band and that is made abundantly clear on the bonus DVD. All I'm going to say is that I was in tears laughing hysterically at "old chokin' Al Lifeson!" If/when you see the part, you'll know exactly what I mean (provided you have a good sense of humor).

All-in-all, this DVD has allowed me to relate to the band even further and it has provided something a dedicated 28 year-old Rush fan could only hope for! I went into this experience thinking it would be low-budget, but I didn't care. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the visual/auditory quality of the content is top-notch -- never mind the actual content itself! There will be things you already know and things you don't, but the combination of the things you don't know with all of the unique candid encounters with the band, input from various top-notch musicians (Trent Reznor, Les Claypool, Vinnie Paul, Sebastian Bach, Billy Corgan, Jack Black, et al), and band historicity are enough to make this DVD worth watching multiple times.

So, what are you waiting for!? Buy it already! =)

EXCELLENT RELEASE EVEN IF THE DOCUMENTARY SEEMS.....RUSHED! - ! MR. KNOW IT ALL ;-b - TRI STATE AREA
I've been a Rush fan since I first heard 'All The World's A Stage' Rush's first live album in 1976. Even though it took some getting used to Geddy's vocals, I always knew these guys could play their A $$'s off! There are probably only two groups left on the planet that I buy their new albums without hesitation one being The Rolling Stones and the other of course Rush. While the Stones haven't put out a great album in a long time, I still find their new offerings interesting.

Rush on the other hand has delivered great album after great album, but even these musical giants have had their moments were they didn't top their last effort. For me I feel that the band continued to grow up to 'Hold Your Fire'. That doesn't mean that it's my favorite album, but there was a gradual climb to that point. When 'Presto' was released it marked the first time the band sounded like they went backwards...I know now that this was intentional. After 'Roll The Bones' the band started to dig in and really grow again with some of the newest albums technically amazing, but lacking in melody. I still love and own all of their albums and nhave othing but the greatest respect for these stellar musicians and songwriters.

I'm giving a little back history here because now with 'Rush Beyond The Lighted Stage' I get to hear what I've known for years from the guys who have influenced me and countless other musicians to play a little harder, I get to hear a lot of stuff that I didn't know. While I and every other Rush fan would have liked this documentary to go on for hours, I think it is really well put together even though it should have been at least another 45 minutes longer.

I can understand why this film is 106 minutes, but considering the fan base, I can't believe that the members of Rush didn't realize that Rush fans would want a much longer in depth look at the band's History. The early years are well done, but it seems to rush by the later years and even though the film is really quite good, I think with a little more effort, it could have been the definitive documentary all Rush fans were looking for.

The Blu Ray has all of the extras that are on the two discs DVD, but to be honest, with all the early footage used in this piece, there is really little reason to buy the Blu Ray over the standard DVD as visual quality is really not all that much better. The small segments in HD will look fine on standard and the old stuff might even look a little better. If you don't own a Blu Ray player this is certainly not the reason to go and buy one.

I rate the documentary itself 4 1/2 stars and the extras 5 stars for some very cool old concert footage with John Rutsey and other obscurities. If you love Rush(and I know you do!) this is a must own set

Even females who aren't Rush fans like it! - Justin Opinion - USA
I received my Blu-ray copy of this film while I was entertaining house guests. Being the selfish sort that I am, I insisted on watching it and not waiting days until my guests left. The female of the pair had barely heard of Rush, and was certainly not a fan. She even joked that it is "a guy's band". She watched the entire film, and said that she really enjoyed it!

I can't add much that has not already been said in other reviews, but this is a film for fans of musicians, entertainers, and underdogs in general. Obviously it's all about Rush, but the story at the core is that three very talented musicians were able to achieve great success while maintaining their integrity (not just an illusion here) and creative freedom.

The most enjoyable portions of the documentary for me are the exchanges between the band members, often very candid. It is clear that these men are close friends and care very much for one another - even beyond their bond within the band. I truly believe that they put their friendship above the success of the band.

The Blu-ray and DVD contain about 1 1/2 hours of extra footage, some of which is priceless. My personal favorite are the scenes filmed while Geddy, Alex, and Neil have a casual dinner together in a hunting lodge. It is the single most "fly on the wall" portion of all the footage.

I will chose a path that is AWESOME - J. Williams - Corpus Christi, Texas United States
Chapter by Chapter, this is by far the best musical documentary I have seen, since Metallicas " Some Kind of Monster". What a treasure chest of " Back in the Day" clips, with current views from bands that Rush has opened for, ( Wish the U.F.O. guys could have chimed in), Gene Simmons by far takes the cake in giving his thoughts of the group. To this day you can still see the respect that each band has for each other.

You can't go wrong in purchasing this, you will watch it over and over and over.

Viva RUSH!!!

DVD Players and Their Utility

DVD Players are devices that play discs with the technical standards of both the DVD Videos and DVD Audios. The DVD players can be used for excellent interactive learning apart from fun games and brain bending puzzles. There are certain tasks that this player has to complete in order to display the final video show.

The player reads a DVD disc in ISO and UDF version. The data of the disc is then optionally decrypted. The device reads the DVD's lockout codes and obeys by it. It also displays a warning signal if the player is not capable to play the DVD. The player also decodes the MPEG-2 video stream with a speed of 10 Mbit /sec or 8 Mnit /sec. The task of the player is not just limited to decoding videos. It also decodes sounds in formats such as MP2, PCM and AC-3. The sound is then sounded with a stereo connector and optical & electric digital connector. The output of all these processes is a video signal that is either in analog form supporting formats such as NTSC, PAL or SECAM or in digital form that works on DVI or HDMI connectors.

The latest DVD Players are available with LCD screens whereas the hardware DVD players need to be connected to a television set. Then only it becomes possible for the user to play games and watch videos on the TV screen. However, the latest DVD Players come with an additional CD playback support. Most of the DVD players can be used by the users to play audio & video CDs and they also include a home cinema decoder. There are also some latest versions of these players that play videos in the latest MPEG - 4 ASP compression format.

The price of the DVD players are very reasonable. The cheap DVD player can download music and animation programs which when played on the screen of the device make every moment very interesting. The music downloads can also be copied on CD or a DVD by making use of the burn option of the writing software installed in the player.
