Product Description
A four-disc RPG epic, The Legend of Dragoon is set in a time of swords, magic, and dragons. Ten thousand years prior, the Dragon War pitted Dragoons--humans with the power to control dragons--against Enslavers, magicians who sought to enslave the humans. Now Dart, a young warrior, is on a quest to find the demon that killed his parents. The Legend of Dragoon features prerendered, 3-D backgrounds and detailed, polygonal figures. Several nonplaying characters and many full-motion video scenes take you through the complex story. The game's turn-based battle engine allows you to increase the strength of an attack through repeated button taps and shows the percentage increase you've created. A timing feature in the battle modes allows you to add devastating combinations to your attacks. The Spirit Points you accumulate during your quest can be used to unlock a special power, known as the Dragon attack.
Editorial Review
Talk about going out with a bang! Sony Computer Entertainment released its four-disc The Legend of Dragoon for the PlayStation only months before the release of that console's successor, the PlayStation2. This very absorbing role-playing game, with hours upon hours of story and inventive gameplay, might just be the last great title for the glorious PSX.

The copious story begins with Dart, a vengeful young man with spiky hair and red armor who embarks on a desperate rescue mission to break his childhood sweetheart out of a castle prison. The two join forces with a knight who is trying to end a war that's destroying the region. Dart soon learns that he is a Dragoon--a human who's privy to the spiritual power of dragons. Like all RPG heroes, Dart is up against impossible odds, but his newfound Dragoon magic and battle skills go a long way toward making the bet even money.

And that's just the beginning. Grab a spare memory card and a comfy chair and be prepared to spend at least 20 hours getting through the first disk (there are three others just like it in the double-wide case). It's hard to sustain a player through this kind of time span, but The Legend of Dragoon takes chances and wins. For example, its battle system is turn based, so you can actually use some strategy, but it also features special "additions," or fighting combos that unfold if you match the X button to that addition's timing. When handling three players' additions, each with unique sequences, it can be quite challenging. You can increase the potency of the elemental magic up to 160 percent by quickly tapping X during your cast. Also, the perspectives often change between battles--players will direct the action from behind the heroes, behind the villains, looking down from above, and off to the side.

There are a couple downsides to the game. First, the stylized transitions into and out of battle mode, while initially cool, quickly become exhausting--especially when running the gauntlet through lesser foes in the wilderness or lower ramparts of a castle. The game's story is built such that you're watching the sometimes goofy dialog as a spectator rather than participating in it. There are a few occasions when the game will prompt you to choose from two different responses, but often either response will bring about the same conclusion. That tightly controlled narrative, however, often works in the player's favor by keeping the game flowing instead of the wandering common in other RPGs, where players waste time looking to each townsperson for direction.

Overall, the game's wonderfully illustrated sets, light exploration and problem solving, and a handful of jaw-dropping full-motion video scenes make The Legend of Dragoon fun to play and hard to put down. --Porter Hall

Pros:

  • Hours upon hours of story and gameplay
  • Turn-based battle made more exciting by combo-attack-style "additions"
  • Many different monsters, spells, weapons, and items
Cons:
  • Very linear gameplay offers no chance to affect outcome
  • Stylish pre- and postbattle sequences quickly grow tiresome

My favorite game (2009-04-12)
Much better than any of the Final Fantasy games. Game play that is fun and draws you in as well as a great story and great characters.

Let's Be Honest: You Have to Enjoy 'This Kinda Thing' (2009-01-16)
The problem with this game is that it doesn't work as the 'Final Fantasy Killer' (I like this game, and have enjoyed it more than any of the three Final Fantasy games I have played, those being the original for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Final Fantasy IX, and Final Fantasy X) unless you enjoy the additions and dragoon transformations.

The game is all about style. I absolutely LOVE gaining and performing each character's addition, building their dragoon levels, transforming, watching the mini scenes where they use their magic, and trying to get a 'perfect' on the Dragoon additions.
Combine that with characters I like, a story that keeps me wanting to see what happens next, and a focus on the absolute POWER of the dragoons and winglies, and I have a game that I consider the greatest Role-playing game in existence. . . to me.

Tales of Symphonia is probably 'technically' better. It has more replay value, more things to unlock, and more magic attacks. There is more to explore in general, and it is translated much better.

But if it were three years since I had played both games, and I was given the option, I would choose the Legend of Dragoon, because every part of this game is just plain FUN.

So, in short:

If you enjoy timing your button presses to make combos, transforming into impressive-looking dragoons, seeing a few truly astonishing cut-scenes, and seeing a story that IS interesting, (people say that it isn't original, but I have NEVER seen a story like this, ever, anywhere) then you will like this game.

If you just wanna press 'attack' and let it go, if you want TONS of magic abilities to unlock, or if you just take things too seriously and wouldn't be able to tolerate the poorly translated text, then you won't like the game.

Awesome beyond reason (2009-01-01)
This game, this legend of games is by far and i mean by far the best game for the playstation. If you do not have this game in your possession then you should get it. Of course it has its flaws but what game doesn't. I use to have two playstations, but somethings happened to them and i was forced to get a different game system, i was sorry for that. I got the regular xbox and was disappointed, yes the graphics are good, and the games are good, but when it comes down to it the new games are just not as fun, it would take less than a week to beat a game. Unlike the new systems playstation actually is the best i would say. Games like Final Fantasy and Legend of Dragoon take a very long time to beat and actually pull you into the game, they have story lines and great characters, out of all the games on playstation i would recommend this game over every one of them.

game as described (2008-12-16)
I purchased this game for my oldest son. He was worried that it would be all scratched up (as his original Legend game is). We were very pleased to find the game in the shape as described and the boys have been playing it for hours.

The Best RPG I Have Ever Played! (2008-11-24)
I first purchased this game in 2001 when it came out on the greatest hits. I often compare it to Final Fantasy, but there is really no comparison. LOD beats it hands down!

The seller shipped it to me factory sealed! Brand spankin new.

I am highly satisfied and relieved that I found this game again despite the fact that stores don't even sale PS1 games anymore.

I will continue to do my bargain hunting on Amazon.com.

PS FFIX Game (2009-03-23)
I loved this game when I first played it when it was a new release. When my son started liking FF games, I had to purchase all the Final Fantasy games that I had played so he can play them, he really enjoys playing this game.

Lives up and adds lots more to live up to (2009-03-17)
I've played just about every Final Fantasy game, several of them multiple times, and this one still amazes me.

Negatives:
-Battles are, a lot of the time, a bit sluggish. The system is fine, but the ready meters go more slowly than in any of the other Final Fantasies, and each command will have an annoyingly empty delay before happening.
-The final villain and the entire idea of the crystal seem to jump out of nowhere, kind of off-track, it seems.
-Quinna falls way short of all the other characters, in terms of skill and character development. The others are very well balanced. She's not.
-A few themes in the soundtrack are repeated(remixed) a few times too many.
-Have to say it again: Some of the normal battles are just too long.

Positives:
-Great graphics, design, dungeons, towns, world-map, FMVs and everything.
-Good sound, with neat effects, good timing and one of the most fun Final Fantasy soundtracks(despite the remixing of so many themes).
-An awesome, compelling story. It's one of the most straightforward Final Fantasy stories but also one of the most unique.
-Final Fantasy IX has great characters. The characters are in fact the highlight of the game. They are all unique, in terms of skills and in terms of personalities, and the Active Time Events really bring them out. They interact more interestingly than in any previous Final Fantasy, really moving into new storytelling territory.
-This game has one of the best FF difficulty levels, with easy enough level-ups and hard enough bosses. Good for any RPGamer
-LOTS TO DO. Final Fantasy IX not only has a great world to explore, but some of the best FF mini-games, THE best Chocobo system and TONS of treasures waiting to be stolen, won and dug up.

Overall: It's a great game. The fantasy elements are amazing, the characters, gameplay and design work together almost flawlessly. This game has plenty of impact on a first playing and keeps its replay value very well. Easily one of the best Final Fantasies and one of the best RPGs period.

Talk about a Deal...FF 9 for less than 20 bucks!!! (2009-03-15)
This game is a classic! For a game that is almost 10 years old...The graphics are great, the cutscenes well done and cinematic. The Fighting is old school but still fun in 2009. The story is somewhat typical of RPG's from that time , but the characters themselves are well developed and fun. Comparatively, FF8, I found that I did not care for any of the Characters in the end..FF9 is different. To me this is definately and improvment over FF8. I am hoping that FFX is even better (No, I have not played it yet...I was starting from FF IV and building my way up.)

Very much worth the hours you'll put in Kupo!

I never really know what to put here... (2009-03-12)
This game reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 7. Grant it...the graphics and CG were much better, but the play, IMO, was very similar. There were parts of the World Map that I found rather difficult to navigate, but, as an avid FF player for the past 15 years, I loved it regardless.

Still think that this is a must have for any RPG gamer or FF lover.

Easily one of the most underrated FF games (2009-03-10)
It's truly an epic and exhilarating game. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. True FF fans will buy this game and love it.

MEET SPYRO HE'S A FIESTY LITTLE FLAME SPROUTING DRAGON ON A GIGANTIC GO ANYWHERE 3D FANTASY ADVENTURE
Editorial Review
Spyro is a cute purple dragon in a bit of a pickle. Each of Spyro's dragon friends has fallen victim to the nefarious Gnasty Gnorc, who has turned them into crystals. Accompanied by Sparx the dragonfly, Spyro sets out to free his buddies, while collecting gems and dragon eggs. Sparx also serves as Spyro's health-o-meter, glowing gold when Spyro is healthy and turning dusky green as he tires. To boost his energy, Spryo can blast docile creatures with fire, turning them into butterflies, which Sparx transforms into much-needed fuel.

This title has bright graphics in six well-developed worlds, each with several subworlds, including bogs, deserts, and ice worlds. Unlike some action games, in Spyro the Dragon the enemies are more fun than frightening. In the Peace Keepers world, for example, Spyro must burn down the monster soldiers' tent, sending one of the minions running out, quaking with fear or, if you're lucky, dropping his drawers and shooting a moon.

Spyro's movements (fire breathing, gliding, jumping, and climbing) require entry-level gaming skills. For this reason, Spyro the Dragon is an excellent title for youngsters or less experienced players, who want to play without having to master complex movement combinations. --Kasty Thomas

Pros:

  • Large worlds provide hours of game playing
  • Variety of scenarios
  • Engaging graphics
Cons:
  • Low game skill requirements may prove less challenging for expert players

Oh Spyro... how I miss you lol (2009-02-07)
Okay I first played this back when it first came out and back when the graphics were good. Now, it is almost 11 years later and I still absolutely love this game although its graphics are old-school compared to say the Wii's graphics or PS3's. But this game was good. It was not easy for me but with a little practice I got better. There is only one egg that still is a challenge for me to get and I don't remember the name of the sub-world it is in but it's the one with a whole bunch of trees. I always forget where to turn/jump to get the height and speed I need to reach the egg. But big deal, this game is how I remember Spyro and brings back fond memories.
One reviewer had a good point when he said the dragons you release from the stone do give you some pretty redundant advice such as telling you how to glide after you just finished gliding to reach the little booger! But you can interrupt them which I always do so no biggie. The mini-games are fun and even though you don't have to complete them to finish the game there is a part of me that always has to complete the game 100%. I will hunt down every gem, every egg and every pink egg from those annoying blue things you chase.
This isn't the best Spyro game but it is among the top three. The other two are the two that followed this one. Insomniac knew how to make these games and I wish they'd make any others that come out because frankly, Universal, Vivendi, etc. ruined this series for me.

Spyro The Dragon For The PlayStation (2009-01-05)
Well, with a million reviews already, this makes it even easier for me. One of the original and best action/adventure games for the PS, you can't go wrong with Spyro (and the proceeding sequels). Owned the game a while back but my nephew somehow lost it. I completed it fully, an I'm about to play through it again, even though it's been like 8 years. Never got the sequels but I'm getting them from here now. Got 5 more PlayStation classics to go, including Spyro 2 and 3.

Spyro (2008-09-12)
This game is one my favorites. The graphics and detail are good and quite entertaining. It seems that the game was innitially created with younger people in mind, but I'm 22 and I enjoy playing. It starts out easier at the beginning like most games and gradually gets more challenging as you work up the higher levels. There are some levels which still kick my butt--I'm ashamed to admit. What I like about it is there is a lot of free range adventure where Spyro is able to roam about seeking out hidden treasures and places. Not everything your looking for is readily obvious. I would recommend this game for anybody who likes adventure and level type fantasy games without all the blood and guts. It's also a really great game for kids as there is no profanity or anything of the like involved.

Spyro on PS (2008-08-15)
Spyro the Dragon is a classic. The original owner was very kind and notified me that he was shipping it the next day after I made the order online. The product was delivered as promised in the condition as promised, and for that I award the owner 5 stars.

STILL LOTS OF FUN, A PLATFORMING CLASSIC 8 OUT OF 10 (2008-03-17)
I'm very reluctant to try the new Spyro game for PS2, or to buy the Spyro games available for Xbox because Spyro games have stooped to such a low quality I'm afraid to play them. But for the old Spyro games on PSone I have no fears because these ones were developed by Insomniac (Ratchet and Clank, Resistance: Fall of Man), the studio that made the good ones, but sadly no longer makes them. The story is about how Spyro has to rescue all of the dragons who have been imprisoned in crystal cocoons by Nasty Nork. The gameplay functions very well for an old platformer, and never really gives you much trouble because of how smoothly it handles. The flight mechanic works well, but you can't use it all the time. The graphics look nice for the time, but are feeble by today's standards. The environments are bright and colorful and still have a great feel to them. You will spend your time defeating lots of enemies, rescuing your dragon friends, collecting jewels, finding hidden locations, getting health by letting your dragon fly buddy eat butterflies, and have a lot of fun doing all this. As much as this might sound terrible to some gamers, it's actually not repetitive and boring, but in reality a lot of fun. The biggest flaw of the entire game is the camera. The camera is a bit difficult to handle, and will unfortunately cause a few cheap deaths. Also, this game in some ways feels a bit too easy because within a twenty minute period I located 14 dragons. Plus this game simply isn't as fun as it's sequels Ripto's Revenge or Year of the Dragon. But this game is too much fun to really complain about, and I can guarantee no matter what demographic of gaming you fall in you will have a lot of fun on Spyro's PSone adventures.

Editorial Review
SquareSoft has always had a sure-fire hit when releasing any of their Final Fantasy titles, and Final Fantasy VIII should be no exception. The basis of a good RPG (role-playing game) has always been the story; spectacular graphics are secondary. Final Fantasy VIII's involved and interesting story line is filled with great twists, well-developed characters, suspense, and romance. As an added bonus, the graphics are beautiful. Everything--from the low-lit jazz club to the steam-filled railroad tunnels--is gorgeous and perfectly sets the mood and tone of a scene.

The game mechanics are standard fare for an RPG: acquisition of items and spells, turn-based combat, experience points earned in combat allowing advances in levels. From exploration to battles to dialogue, Final Fantasy VIII has it all. However, Final Fantasy VIII falls to that great weakness of RPGs: random battles. While necessary for advancing in levels, the battles occur with such frequency that they can grow annoying, making for a tedious game experience.

The epic storyline spans four discs--over 40 hours of gameplay--and is based around a mercenary cadet who finds himself caught up with an underground rebel faction. He winds up in a plot to assassinate the sorceress who has just seized power from the president.

You could complain of limited replay value, but this gripe is of no consequence: the game is such a satisfying experience, it doesn't require replay. Final Fantasy VIII is easily worth both the hype and the wait. You can't buy a much better game. --John Cocking

Pros:

  • A story to beat all stories
  • Characters worth caring about
  • Hey--it's from SquareSoft
  • Stunning animations
Cons:
  • Too many random battles
  • Combat is, as always, turn-based and offers minimal excitement
  • Weak souls might give up after two or three discs of play

One of the best RPGs I've ever played. (2009-04-06)
This game is really amazing. It is a thrilling story that you can play over and over again. It is really a love story filled with a lot of action, so if you don't like love stories... watch out. It has complex characters and really intense situations. The junction system is something you just have to get used to; it's bad at first, but it gets a lot better. The graphics aren't wonderful, but it is worth it to get this game, anyways. The opening is simply amazing and really hypes you up for the whole story. There are a lot of unexpected twists that I would have never guessed at the beginning, so you definitely won't be bored. It's worth the money, and the game really isn't that expensive on Amazon, so go for it. If you don't like it, you can probably sell it back for the same price you payed(or for more) somewhere since it is such a popular game. So why not try it out?

great game (2009-03-09)
amazing graphics, amazing story; very few bad things can be said about this game. i played this game years ago and it still is in the front of my mind. buy it, you won't regret it.

Great RPG (2009-03-06)
I've been a fan of the Final Fantasy series for years, starting with VII. I now own I, II, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 and XII. And of all those, FInal Fantasy VIII has to be my favorite. The plot, including the complex relationships between the characters, is addictive. When I first got it, I used all my free time for several weeks on the game. I'd recommend this game to anyone who is interested in any of the following: RPG's, Final Fantasy, terrific graphics for the 1990's or well designed characters.

Really NICE! (2009-03-05)
It was a great game.
*I loved the story
*the card game was cool
*The summons looked nice (and they made the battle faster)
*Just the right amount of instructions were given
*The graphic (for it's type of game[ps1]) were really good

very intersting (2009-03-04)
all i have to say is that this game was great and i give it 10/10

Editorial Review
Long recognized as role-playing games par excellence, the Final Fantasy series gets a technological makeover in this installment (and series debut on the PlayStation). Shedding the two-dimensional graphics and limited sound capabilities of its predecessors, Final Fantasy VII features lush 3-D graphics, beautifully animated "movie" sequences, and soundtrack-quality music. Coupled with the game's intricate storyline, endearing characters, and immense yet highly imaginative world, these new advancements make for a quite an engrossing experience.

The story of Final Fantasy VII centers around a solider named Cloud Strife, who joins forces with Avalanche, a group of resistance fighters, to take down an evil mega-corporation known as Shinra. (The fate of the world hangs in the balance, of course.) Truly epic in scope, this four-disc game requires a considerable amount of time to complete---this reviewer gladly gave up over 80 hours of his life to finish it. But it's definitely a rewarding adventure that every PlayStation owner should consider undertaking, especially since it's now one of the low-priced "Greatest Hits" titles. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Intricate and absorbing storyline with endearing characters
  • Immense and highly imaginative game world
  • Special battle system
  • Beautifully animated movie sequences

Cons:

  • Your friends and family may feel neglected

Oh what a horrible future would come from this... (2009-03-15)
It seems like ever time someone tries to point out the flaw of gaming history that is Final Fantasy VII, EVERYONE jumps on top of them and pummles them with corrections, anger and most importantly, hate. It's like this game is some untouchable relic of gaming culture. Honestly, its not. Infact, Final Fantasy VII may be one of the most overrated games of all time.

But i'm getting off topic here. Final Fantasy VII is a good game. Actually, it's a VERY good game. The gameplay is very solid turn based RPG action with some great additions. A lot of the characters are great like Tifa, Cid, etc. Hell, I hate Cloud Strife with a passion, but he really didn't get emo like until Advent Children. Plus, if you are a true fan and know the entire story (i'm not a fan, but I know all there is to know about it), you probably can feel for Cloud.

Even though the gameplay is solid, it's pretty standard and isn't too challenging. Also, the Limit Break ability that you can take advantage of isn't as balanced as you would think. Some characters become overpowered and others don't.

The story is pretty stock and the writings is horrible.

My biggest problem with FFVII isn't the game itself, it's the community it created. FFVII was probably the first game to over hype the fans to the point where they would become OBSESSED with everything about the game. You might know these people as FANBOYS! You can't speak one word about this game without being corrected by a fanboy, who seems to come out of no where (like they have some signal that warns them to potential FFVII hate).

Final Verdict: Final Fantasy VII is a pretty easy RPG and if it will be your first game of the genre, then it's a good game to pick up because it doesn't overcomplicate things like other RPGs do by adding TONS of options to deal with. If you've played other RPGs before, don't give this game a second look. The game is very good at what it does, but is hindered by the stupid story and horrible writing.

Recommendation: Buy Final Fantasy IX

Final Fantasy VII is simply my all time favorite game... (2009-03-08)
I am thrilled to have this game in my collection again.

In its day it was a pioneer in its class. It brought FRP gaming into the mainstream.

And, while it has its detractors, you can still find thousands of loyal afficianados who would pay good money for a remake for the PS3.

I've played both the original PS version, on my old PS, and PS2; and the PC version by Eidos. I have a lot of fond memories associated with this game.

Game Review (2009-03-07)
The game itself is a great fun game. Unfortunately the disks keep freezing up. Paying 75 dollars for a ps1 game that only partly works sucks. Buyer Beware

Amazing Final Fantasy VII (2009-02-21)
of course everyone is familiar with the FF series, personally i love them all and it all started with FF VII which was the first Final Fantasy i played...need my opinion? it's AWESOME!!

Talk about overrated. (2009-02-12)
Since this was the first pure Rpg I had ever played, there were alot of things I found really neat about Final Fantasy 7. I liked most of the secondary characters and found their plot development well executed.

That being said, this game has one of the worst protagonists ever. Cloud. The reason he doesn't take the top honor of this? Because there are far worse protagonists, one of them being Squall. I guess emo kid Protagonists just don't do it for me.

It also relies very heavily on plot, that came before it (in that it shamelessly rips off 6 and previous Final Fantasies to the point of hilarity) in order to stand on it's own merits. Most Final Fantasy 7 rabid fans, probably couldn't actually play this game, due to the fact it's frankly no longer pretty enough for them. These are the same people that will try, in vain no less to convince you that X is a great Rpg. (and boy is that one TERRIBLE at the end.. don't get me started on the sphere grid, love story... anyway back to 7)

If Final Fantasy 1-6 had never existed and 7 was original I'd have a much higher opinion of this game, but between the rip off nature and Cloud it really kind of drags the game down for me. I never quite got the hype, yes there are a few characters that still stand out as pretty neat, Vincent and Cait Sith, Red XIII, Aeris, Tifa and Cid. But almost everything else is miserable. Even the Iconic of Bad Guy Sepiroth Yeah I've seen better since him. Far better.

I wouldn't recommend this game really, there are much better things you can do with your money, such as Xenogears, Final Fantasy 1,2,4, and 6. Final Fantasy Tactics, IX, or even XII.

Amazon.com Review
Showcasing enhanced versions of the Super Nintendo classics Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Chronicles is a must-have "retro" bundle for the serious role-playing game fan.

Originally released in the U.S. in 1991 as Final Fantasy II, the groundbreaking Final Fantasy IV introduced the "Active Time Battle" combat system that has since become a staple in the series. In addition to new computer animation sequences and minor gameplay enhancements, this reissue sports a new dialogue translation that is more faithful to the Japanese version and fleshes out the previously pared-down story of a conflicted knight and his quest for redemption.

Although not as well known as Final Fantasy IV--and not even part of the Final Fantasy series, for that matter--1995's Chrono Trigger is a nonlinear adventure game where players must travel across time to save a princess (and the world in the process). New Japanese cartoon cutscenes from animator Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragonball Z) grace the updated Chrono Trigger, and an extras mode (filled with game-related goodies that must be unlocked) has been added, increasing the already high replay value of this title with multiple endings.

Admittedly, the games' two-dimensional graphics and simplistic sounds are quite "last generation," which may turn off some younger gamers and recent converts to the genre, but their solid gameplay, deep storyline, and memorable characters are still first-rate by today's standards. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Brings together two classic Super Nintendo role-playing games
  • Retranslated text of Final Fantasy IV more faithful
  • Extras mode increases Chrono Trigger's replay value
  • New animated "movie" sequences
Cons:
  • In-game graphics and sounds are quite dated

Amazon.com Product Description
The two classic RPGs in this compilation not only represent hours upon hours of story, character, and action, they also present the background for two recent bestselling, critically hailed games: Final Fantasy IX and Chrono Cross.

With all the different names for the original 1991 release of the first title in this compilation (Final Fantasy IV in Japan, Final Fantasy II in the U.S.), role-players new to the game may get confused. Make no mistake, though: Final Fantasy Chronicles marks the first time this pivotal installment of the cherished game series has ever been available on the PlayStation. In Final Fantasy IV, players take on the role of Cecil, a loyal captain who questions the orders of his king, and for it is sent to slay a mysterious beast in a nearby valley.

In Chrono Trigger, Chrono must follow princess Marle's teleportation through time and locate her before an intergalactic parasite arrives to destroy the world. The original game, also on the PlayStation for the first time, was one of the first nonlinear role-playing games. The decisions that players make during the game will point them toward one of more than a dozen possible endings.

These new versions retain the authentic Japanese SNES stories and characters while updating their graphics and adding new full-motion video sequences and other features.

Crono Cross is worth it (2009-03-05)
The ffiv graphic aren't that great, and that makes it a little disappointing, but i did like the story and once you get used to the graphics the small characters seem so kinda cute
Crono Cross on the other hand is definetly worth it
They are great games and you will enjoy them

old schoolin.... (2009-02-20)
i remember saving up my allowances and lawn mowing earnings to buy my first super nintendo a long long time ago. the first game i bought when i bought the system was final fantasy 2 (which goes by the name final fantasy 4 in japan). i have very fond memories of this game and it is definitely one of the games that turned me into the rabid rpg and final fantasy junkie that i am today. anyone who has an appreciation for either of those two things should pick up this title based on that game alone.
chrono trigger has acheived cult status among rpg connoisseurs but i unfortunately have never had the opportunity to play it myself...until now. i did play chrono cross and i enjoyed that game so i figured it would be a no brainer to check out the game's ancestor. throw in final fantasy 2 (one of the greatest rpgs of all time in my book) and the more than fair price and you have yourself an awesome friggin deal!

FINALFANTASY CHRONICLES (2009-01-15)
Ok now these games are amazing I was reading some one star reviews lol omg there retarded they always compare ff games or rpgs to ff7 for one its not that great and for two why would you want it to be the same game I'm glad its different and the graphics on chrono trigger were way more amazing than ff7 and that's a fact chrono trigger was way before its time when you do spells your shirt and hair actually wave in the wind its really awesome so don't listen to the people that give it a one star review this game is amazing

drunk with nostangia (2008-12-16)
Loved Chronotrigger when it was on the old super nintendo. Still love it now.

Didn't play the Final Fantasy on the old system, but I'm enjoying it as well.

If you like the old RPG's, you'll like these.

One of the Best Games Ever (2008-12-05)
I haven't actually played this product yet, as it is a Christmas gift. However, I've been playing Chrono Trigger (through the use of emulators and ROMs) for over a decade. It is without a doubt one of the best games ever created. Even though its graphics are no where near as amazing as the games of today, its story and complexity are of a quality that is rarely, if ever, equaled. It has an endless amount of replay value given the multiple endings (11 or 12 I believe) and various side quests. This version of the game also has well-done animated cutscenes that are lacking in the original Super Nintendo version.
I have very little experience with the Final Fantasy series although from what I've played, they also seem enjoyable. Even if you're not a fan of Final Fantasy, the combination of the two games is well worth the price since I'd pay even more than this just for the Chrono Trigger game.

Note: Since this is a Playstation One game, there is a strong chance that it will not play on Playstation 3 consoles. However, there should be no compatibility issues with the older (and cheaper) Playstation 2 or Playstation One consoles.
